Telling true from false: cannabis users show increased susceptibility to false memories

Cannabis is the most widely used recreational drug worldwide after alcohol and tobacco.1,2 Despite changing attitudes in the
perceived risks associated with this substance and decriminalization initiatives taking place in many US states and countries,1,3 the
health implications of long-term cannabis consumption are still a matter of concern.4 Regular use of cannabis has been associated
with adverse health consequences, including psychiatric and neurocognitive disorders. Besides the more immediate risk of
developing cannabis dependence,5 other mental disorders, such as anxiety, depression or psychosis,6,7 and cognitive impairment
have also been described.8
